Denver is one of a handful of United States cities that is home to multiple sports teams. Colorado sports fans take their sports very seriously. Denver is the only city in history to open, construct and break ground on three major league stadiums in a five-year period.
The main professional sports venues are Invesco Field at Mile High, Coors Field and the Pepsi Center. The Pepsi Center is the home of the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche. The Colorado Avalanche won the 1996 Stanley Cup and made it to the playoffs for the 1997, 1998, and 1999 Stanley Cup as well. The Coors Field was built to house Denver's first professional baseball team, the Colorado Rockies. The new Invesco Field at Mile High is the home of the Denver Broncos who brought home two Super Bowl victories in 1998 and 1999. |
